Coal Soul Soap

Coal Soul Soap is a deep-black bar, tinted through and through with activated charcoal and scented with cedarwood and eucalyptus. Made for body and hands, it pairs the gentleness of olive oil and aloe vera juice with a generous lather. Wet it, and that dark exterior gives way to a creamy, soft-grey foam that leaves skin feeling clean and fresh. A forest-scented wash in a bar that looks carved from coal.

Olive oil, which gives body to the whole formula, makes this a mild, skin-friendly bar, while coconut oil and cocoa butter make it hard, long-lasting, and quick to raise an abundant lather: fluffy bubbles carried on an almost lotion-like creaminess. Castor oil thickens that foam, and avocado oil, together with aloe vera juice, leaves a smooth, conditioned finish as you rinse. Activated charcoal tints the bar an intense charcoal grey, nearly black, and lends it a silky touch; the lather comes up in soft grey tones that rinse away without a trace. The scent is a duet of cedarwood and eucalyptus — woodsy and warm on one side, fresh and herbaceous on the other, like walking through a forest after the rain.

Use it in the shower for the whole body or keep it by the sink as a hand soap: work it between your palms or over a damp sponge and let the lather do the rest. Its hardness makes it perfect for everyday use. To make it last longer, keep it on a draining soap dish and let the bar dry between uses.
